On U.N. Day, G.L.O.B.A..L. Justice shared throughout the day about justice concerns that affect nations around the world and that are central to our work for justice. We highlighted several of our justice projects including Women Empowering Women, Children's Advocacy, Environmental Justice, and our GLBL MRKT.
Women Empowering Women
Our Women Empowering Women Project uplifts women to realize their political, social, and economic human rights. On this UN Day, we especially highlight how women are impacted by human rights abuses and injustices. In particular, gendercide has resulted in an estimated 200 million girls and women missing from our world. We highlighted this devastating injustice against women and girls at our 6th Anniversary Film Festival with a special screening of “It’s a Girl.” Join us today in protecting unborn women and girls around the world. And join us again on March 7 when we will host our 4th Annual Women Empowering Women Forum to discuss many other issues affecting women worldwide.
Children’s Advocacy Project
Our Children’s Advocacy Project provides advocacy and research on issues that especially impact the most vulnerable in our world...children. On this UN Day, we announce that on World Children's Day, November 20, we will provide a series of informative posts about the status of children worldwide, and host an Education Forum from 7-9pm MST. Our Education Policy Fellow, Vanessa Ruiz Salazar, will present a study of social-emotional learning and the impact on children in low income communities. This education topic is particularly relevant in light of COVID-19 and the increase in distance learning and other recent academic and societal changes for children.
Environmental Justice
Our Environmental Justice Project focuses on identifying the environmental issues in our world and the people who are affected by its adverse effects. The Environmental Justice Project is creating awareness by conducting research that analyzes key environmental justice concerns and the impacts on communities We are currently working on a mapping project related to a recent study conducted by our Fellow Ujunwa Okeke on the siting of hazardous waste sites in the U.S. On this UN Day, we hope to inspire people to do the right thing for the environment and for our world.
