Featuring Dr. Sandra Morgan, Director, Global Center for Women and JusticE, Vanguard University
January 2024
Dr. Sandra Morgan has worked tirelessly to advance the status of women and at risk-victim populations through advocacy, education, and policy. Her advocacy efforts have led her to serve in a variety of capacities such as an educator, a nurse, with the private sector, within Presidential and Congressional Committees, and with local, statewide and national task forces to combat human trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation.
Dr. Sandra Morgan’s work to end human trafficking began in Greece when she saw a young girl being sold. After witnessing this event, she thought about what she could do in response to what she had witnessed. This eventually led her to start the Lydia Today foundation which helped fight against domestic abuse and sex-trafficking. Dr. Sandra’s work to address injustice and in particular human trafficking has continued to expand since the founding of the Lydia Today foundation.
She is well known for her work at Vanguard University’s Global Center for Women and Justice whose purpose is to advance the global status of women and other vulnerable populations and end human trafficking through education, research, advocacy, collaboration, and hope. As Director, she advances the Center’s ability to provide research, education, and advocacy on issues related to the exploitation of women and children. In this role and for this purpose, Dr. Sandra engages a range of diverse advocates to collaborate for the Center’s annual Ensure Justice Conference and focus summits throughout the year.
In addition to the work with the Global Center for Women and Justice, Dr. Sandra Morgan has worked tirelessly to advocate for victims of exploitation, slavery, and trafficking around the world. This work has brought her to serve in South America, Russia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Her global work has included serving exploited populations through direct care as a pediatric nurse, a volunteer with Doctors of the World, and as an Administrator of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force.
Dr. Sandra Morgan is a recognized and sought-after voice on addressing issues related to human trafficking and vulnerable populations, particularly the status of women. She hosts an “Ending Human Trafficking” podcast that has listeners in 148 countries and she is the co-author of Ending Human Trafficking: A Handbook of Strategies for the Church Today, published in 2022. In recent years she served as Co-Chair of the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking, a position she filled through presidential appointment.
In all that she has accomplished and all she continues to do, Dr. Sandra is grounded in her relationship with Jesus and His word. A favorite verse is Proverbs 31:8 which says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, ensure justice for those being crushed.” Her work is evidence of the influence this verse and her faith has had on her life and many others. She is an inspiration and vital voice for women and vulnerable populations.
G.L.O.B.A.L. Justice is pleased to feature Dr. Sandra Morgan at our Human Trafficking Prevention Advocacy Forum co-hosted with UCount on January 20, 2024 at Timberline Church in Fort Collins, CO.
