Supporting the Women Empowering Women Project

“As a creative person who has always loved creating, I believe that each individual has been given talents and abilities that are unique to them and given to them by God. I believe that each gift and the joy that comes with these gifts is given to be used for a purpose.

I taught myself to weave a little over four years ago when I began seeing woven items in home décor, and started creating weavings and other fiber art hangings for my home and as gifts for friends.  Throughout my life,  I have always created and crafted and enjoy the process of weaving because each piece always turns out unique and one of a kind. As a law student, weaving also serves as a soothing creative “reset” from the stresses of studying. Ultimately, I enjoy weaving because of the creative process and for the opportunity to create unique items for people and causes I love.

Through the years, I have been grateful to support the work of G.L.O.B.A.L. justice as a staff member. And now, through Good Day Sunshine Goods, I create weavings and wall hangings for G.L.O.B.A.L. Justice’s Women Empowering Women Project. As a woman creative, my desire is for the sale of these weavings to empower women.  Since being exposed to the reality of human trafficking and other injustices that particularly effect women and girls, these issues are especially important to me, and allow me to contribute to addressing issues that affect woman globally.

I hope to inspire others to think of the giftings and joys they have been given and how they might further the work of seeking justice for the vulnerable and oppressed.  When most people think of weavings or crafts, justice is not what comes to mind. I hope that with the sale of these weavings’ others will be reminded that pursuing justice is not separate from other aspects of our life but are intertwined with the giftings and joys that make us who we are. My hope is that each weaving and wall hanging will bring joy to the home they hang in and be a reminder to seek justice and consider in what ways each individual's abilities can be used to speak for the oppressed."

Flora By Mari

Supporting the Children’s Advocacy Project

“Being an artist means that I can show my creativity to others and show them that they can do it too.  It gives me joy whenever I do something creative.  It makes my mind free and makes my heart happy.

Ever since I started seeing the different things I can do with a camera, it gave me ideas for ways that I could create and ways to help others.   I started to take photographs of flowers because I love how beautiful they are.  And, I also thought I could use those photos to get involved with G.L.O.B.A.L.  Justice and help the Children’s Advocacy Project.

I think G.L.O.B.A.L. is a great way to support the world and people in need.  For me, my Flora by Mari cards, are the right thing at the right moment.  Since I am a child, it gives me a chance to help other children and other nonprofits too.

Through Flora by Mari, I want to tell people that you can always share great ideas with others and you can always make a difference by being creative. “
