LEADERSHIP WITH A DESIRE TO SEE CHURCHES WORLDWIDE EQUIPPED, EMPOWERED, AND ENGAGED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF VULNERABLE FAMILIES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES

Featuring Myal Greene, President/CEO, World Relief

June 2024

Myal Greene became President and CEO of World Relief in 2021 after serving for fourteen years within the organization. His vision is to see every person and every community transformed by the power of God’s love.

As President and CEO, Myal Greene leads a team of over 2,000 staff and 95,000 volunteers who are together, serving over 7 million people in 20 countries. Prior to serving in this capacity he directed ministry operations for World Relief in Rwanda and Africa. More recently he served as Senior Vice President of International Programs where he played a key role in increasing support for international programming for World Relief.

He was first drawn to the world of World Relief due to his faith and how he saw the interconnectedness of Jesus Christ and the evident love He had for the poor. After attending college, he worked on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. and was also active in the young adult ministry at his church. He was attending a conference with this young adult ministry where two speakers from World Relief talked about the HIV crisis in Africa and how the church was responding to it. This was his first exposure to World Relief which led to him looking at jobs with World Relief which led to an initial position in Rwanda. He moved to several different positions which ultimately resulted in him serving as Country Director for Rwanda. During his time in Rwanda he developed World Relief’s church-based programming model that is currently being used in nine countries. He eventually moved back to the United States to head the International Programs Division.

Myal Greene’s work in Rwanda not only impacted his work for World Relief, but also affected his personal faith. He has said that he has come to see the body of believers, the church, as God’s chosen means to restore the world. This means being committed to His work of reconciliation and restoration.

As President and CEO of World Relief, Myal Greene brings a passion for empowering local churches and communities to confront injustice, poverty, and violence in their own communities and around the world to the organization. The work of World Relief is accomplished through partnerships with churches, governments, donors, and civil society to implement programs that can address root causes of injustice. Myal Greene’s advocacy and desire to not only serve those in need around the world, but also to equip the church to do the same is an inspiration. We G.L.O.B.A.L. is grateful for leaders like Myal Greene who see partnership and collaboration as the key to address root causes of injustice.
