Jon Goldin-Dubois is the President of Western Resource Advocates (WRA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the land, air, and water of the Western United States. Since assuming leadership in 2014, Goldin-Dubois has focused on addressing the urgent climate crisis, promoting clean energy, and ensuring sustainable water resources across the region.
Goldin-Dubois earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Denver between 1983 and 1988. He furthered his education with a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management and Civic Participation from the University of Colorado Denver, completed between 1996 and 2002.
As President of WRA, Goldin-Dubois has directed efforts toward decarbonizing electricity production, promoting electrification of other economic sectors, and advocating for the protection of vital water resources like the Colorado River. Under his guidance, WRA has developed strategic plans aiming for significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and the preservation of Western lands and rivers.
Goldin-Dubois's advocacy emphasizes collaborative approaches to environmental challenges. He has led initiatives resulting in commitments from major utilities, such as Xcel Energy in Colorado, to substantially reduce climate-warming emissions. Additionally, his efforts have contributed to the protection of over 2 million acres of land and several major rivers in Colorado and New Mexico through outstanding national resource waters designations.
Beyond his role at WRA, Goldin-Dubois has an extensive background in leadership positions within the nonprofit sector. He served as Executive Vice President at Common Cause from 1997 to 2007, Principal at Confluence Strategies from 2007 to 2010, and Executive Director of the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club from 2010 to 2014. These roles reflect his commitment to civic participation, strategic development, and community engagement.
Goldin-Dubois believes in the power of community and collaborative action to address environmental challenges.
